Chapter 55 - 55 Misunderstanding
Yin Tao understood Feng Jing very well. Detectives are often given urgent assignments, so it was impossible for them to eat on time.
“But your food looks especially delicious.” Yin Tao stared at the food on the plates behind Feng Jing in surprise. “Sunny-side up, sandwiches, salad, and fried dumplings, why did you prepare so much for breakfast?”
Feng Jing brought the plates to the dining table. Looking at Yin Tao who was like a little hamster, Feng Jing was tempted to speak his mind. Having previously witnessed her appetite, Feng Jing was afraid that even all this wouldn’t be enough for her.
“Eat more. We still have to investigate work to do today.” Feng Jing handed the juice to Yin Tao and sat across from her.
“Then I won’t stand on ceremony!” Yin Tao hadn’t eaten her fill at all last night. When she saw so much delicious food, her stomach growled. She took big bites of the sunny-side up and didn’t notice the way Feng Jing was looking at her.
Feng Jing looked at the happy Yin Tao in front of him and suddenly felt very satisfied. It was as if the little hamster he raised had a good appetite and was very healthy.
With Yin Tao sitting across from him, Feng Jing’s appetite also improved a lot. Halfway through their meal, they heard the sound of the digital lock being unlocked.
Feng Jing was puzzled when he heard a familiar voice.
“Feng Jing! You have to thank me properly this time!” Lin Jia held a stack of photocopied paper in his hand and strode into the living room.
“Little Sister Xiaotao?” Lin Jia looked at Yin Tao, who was chewing a fried dumpling, and thought there might be something wrong with his eyesight.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t be seeing Yin Tao eating fried dumplings at Feng Jing’s house. Moreover, the pajamas she was wearing seemed to be his birthday gift to Feng Jing.
“Why are you here? Why didn’t you press the doorbell?” Feng Jing put down the cutlery in his hands and questioned Lin Jia.
“Why would I press the doorbell when I know the passcode to your door?!” Lin Jia wanted to leave, but on second thought, it wasn’t as if Yin Tao was naked. What was there to feel bad about? If anyone should feel bad, it should be that old bastard Feng Jing.
“Little Sister Xiaotao, tell your Brother Lin Jia, did this old thing trick you into coming here?” Lin Jia was a little angry. Previously, when he asked Feng Jing whether he liked Yin Tao, he had denied it without thinking. Now, he had brought her home in the blink of an eye.
Yin Tao reluctantly put down the half-eaten fried dumpling and shook her head. “Brother Feng only took me in for the night because he was afraid that I would end up on the streets.”
Yin Tao knew that Lin Jia had misunderstood her relationship with Feng Jing. But from Lin Jia’s point of view, it wasn’t easy to not misunderstand. However, Yin Tao didn’t know how to explain it.
“F*ck! Feng Jing, don’t tell me you plan to deny it after a one night stand?” Lin Jia had thought that he knew Feng Jing’s character very well. However, looking at how young and innocent Yin Tao looked, Feng Jing didn’t seem like a good person at all.
“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but I can tell you with certainty that everything you assume is wrong.” Feng Jing also felt a headache coming on. If Lin Jia hadn’t appeared, he wouldn’t have to go through so much trouble to explain himself. It seemed that he should change the passcode for the digital lock.
“Brother Lin Jia, I stayed in the guest room on the second floor yesterday. Brother Feng and I worked on a case till late yesterday, and the police dormitory was already closed.” Yin Tao didn’t know if Lin Jia would believe her, but judging from his expression, it wasn’t hopeful.
“You’re a forensic doctor working with the captain of the detective team?” Lin Jia’s expression was a little unnatural. Although he was in no position to question their relationship, Feng Jing and Yin Tao’s combination was obviously not good.
“Alright, we still have to go back to the police station later. If you have something to say, say it quickly.” Feng Jing was a little impatient. If it were Yin Hao, he might have explained patiently.
Lin Jia chuckled as he shook his head. He glanced at Yin Tao. “There’s a break in Wei Feng’s case.”
When Lin Jia saw that Feng Jing had no intention of letting Yin Tao leave, he all the more felt that Feng Jing gave Yin Tao special treatment.
“Didn’t you previously ask me to gather information on the companies that are competing with the Wei Corporation?”
Feng Jing nodded when he heard what Lin Jia said. He had indeed suspected that Wei Feng’s death was related to the Wei Group’s project.
“I sent a copy to you earlier.” Lin Jia handed the photocopied paper in his hand to Feng Jing and said to him, “But I missed out on the biggest competitor of the Wei Group.”
