Chapter 487 I'll Handle It
Edward had to be replaced by Ferran in the thirtieth minute because he believed that Mateo needed all the support he could get and bringing in Ferran was going to make things easier for them and also make their midfield lighten up a bit because so far in the match, it looked like they had no midfield.
"This is the second time this season that Unique FC are scoring with their first shot of the game and once again it\'s from their main man, Mateo." Jim expressed.
"Well, he had to pay Supreme United fans back for all the disrespect and he did it way earlier than I expected," Steve commented.
"Yeah, that was quite unexpected but thanks to that goal we\'re back to square one now. I\'m still surprised Norman made only one substitution after everything we\'ve seen from his side so far."
Bringing in Ferran was a good choice but it wasn\'t really anything groundbreaking because Supreme United were still dominating the game.
Foden received the ball back from Roland after the striker got his path blocked by Martinez.
Foden didn\'t make any mistake in linking it straight to Diego as soon as he got his foot on it. Roland was obviously closing up on him now, but he didn\'t want to deal with the left back so he pushed the ball to Michael who sent it rolling to Pelcao with his first touch because Ferran was right on him.
"Pelcao."
Martinez quickly rushed to the midfielder to try and stop him, but he was fast enough to move the ball a little to the right before he sent it rolling to Foden.
"Foden."
Harry quickly closed up on the midfielder from behind and managed to get the ball off him with a clean tackle but his pass to Martinez could have been better.
Michael ended up intercepting the ball just before it could get to the defensive midfielder, and without hesitation he sent the ball rolling back to Foden who sent it rolling to Carlos down the left wing.
"That pass could have been so much better from Harry but Michael still did a good job of intercepting that. Supreme United continue their hunt for a goal to grab back the lead."
Carlos slowly moved toward Norman dragging the ball along with him but he didn\'t even get close enough to the right back before pushing the ball back to Zlensky.
"He sends it back to Zlensky."
Zlensky moved a little to the right with the ball before he sent it rolling to Roland who had to push it back to Foden with his first touch.
"I can see something happening here."
Foden quickly sent the ball flying toward the left before Martinez could get to him with the slide that ended up taking him off his feet.
"Sends it flying to Carlos."
Carlos had Norman right on, the right-back was giving him no space but since he had the superior height he headed it back to Zlensky who found Roland inside the box with Adolf the only one on him, and quickly sent the ball flying to him.
"He drops it back to Zlensky, he tries to find Roland. Oh, Roland!"
The striker managed to beat Adolf to get his head on the ball and he made no mistake in directing it toward the right with just the right elevation.
However,
[ Ball magnet activated ]
Dave dived toward the ball just at the right time, and with both of his gloves, he was able to grab the ball just before it could go any further.
He would have gotten to the ball without ball magnet but activating the skill was to make sure he caught it because this was one of those matches where making any mistakes was completely ruled out.
"I knew that wasn\'t going to get past him. Wonderful save from Dave," Steve commented.
In a match like this, not a single moment was to be wasted unless you were winning which wasn\'t the case for either side at the moment.
Dave was aware of this fact and that led him to cut his time on the floor really short as he sprang up almost immediately after hitting the floor to send the ball flying out toward the left.
"Goodness me, I\'ve never seen anybody get up that fast after hitting the floor." Jim sounded quite shocked.
"Yeah, it\'s almost as if he never touched the floor," Steve added.
He got the ball to Mateo pretty nicely but the winger wasn\'t able to quickly take off with it because he had Michael right on him.
The right-back was quickly rushing back when Dave sent the ball flying out and now he was going to try and prevent the winger from getting that running space that he needed.
As soon as Mateo got his foot on the ball, he quickly stretched out his leg to try and take the ball off his feet but Mateo was fast enough to send the ball rolling to Ferran before quickly jumping up to avoid the leg.
The whistling came again from the away fans but the winger just didn\'t care anymore.
"Ferran."
The winger quickly took off down the wing so that Ferran could send the ball to him from the top but Michael wasn\'t letting him go because he was aware of what could happen if the winger should break loose with the ball.
He was taking his job seriously before that equalizer but now he was taking it way more than seriously.
"Yeah, just keep all your attention on him," Ferran muttered before he quickly sent the ball flying to Carlos down the right wing.
"Over to Carlos."
Simeon quickly rushed out to try and stop the winger as soon as he got his foot on the ball but just before he could get to him, he sent the ball rolling back to Harry who immediately pushed it to Martinez who had closed down a little down the middle.
Martinez moved a little forward with the ball before passing it to Fred who was right at the edge of the box.
It didn\'t look like the striker had any space to shoot or do anything, but Ferran had him covered.
The midfielder popped up from the left to pick up the ball from him.
"And here\'s Ferran, he swiftly gets past Conan, this could be their chance!"
That would have been their chance if Simeon had not rushed in from the right to bring the midfielder down right at the edge of the box.
The referee blew his whistle before quickly rushing to the area and while there was an argument between both sides on whether it was a penalty or free kick, the referee decided that it was just a free kick.
"Looks like Unique FC will have to settle with just a free kick," Jim commented.
"A free kick in a very good spot though."
Mateo and Ferran were standing over the ball now, and just before anything could start happening, Ferran had a question for the winger.
"So, are you going to call, Dave?"
"No, I\'ll handle this one myself." The winger replied calmly with his gaze on the goalpost.
\'If this goes in, they\'ll have more reason to be pissed off, which is just great.\' He said subconsciously with a grin now appearing on his face.
