Chapter 511: Better a Living Dog than a Dead Lion

Lu Li had always known that Little White’s teeth were sharp, the sharpest he had even seen given that it could bite through five-layered Fate Wheels. He didn’t think there was anything it couldn’t break with its teeth.
Excluding Quasi Relics!
Quasi Relics were strong and stiff. Lu Li couldn’t even leave a mark on the tripod Ding with his Blood Claw, which was an evidence of Quasi Relics’ toughness.
Little White had surpassed his wildest expectation by biting through the Quasi Relic. Lu Li didn’t know how Little White had done this and the question was not his primary concern at the moment.
Being through so many bloody battles, Lu Li had developed a fast sense of reaction. He had not the time to waste on trivial matters to let go of such a good opportunity.
“Whoosh!”
Lu Li charged out. As soon as he was out of the Ding of Barbarian God, he began to inspect the surroundings with his psychic power. When he found Rui of Iron, who hadn’t recovered from astonishment, Lu Li formed his psychic power into knives and stabbed at Rui the Iron’s Soul Pond without any hesitation. At the same time, he generated clones one by one until there were more than 60 of them, dashing toward Rui the Iron all at once.
The Inhibition Formations of the Ding of Barbarian God were undermined so it could not shrink now. It had reverted to its original state and fallen to the ground. Rui the Iron had been holding it in his hands and now he could not hold it anymore and he was forced to step back under the heavy weight.
Lu Li’s exit had alarmed Rui the Iron and Lu Li’s knives of psychic power had already penetrated into his soul. The last scene Rui the Iron saw was Lu Li’s Blood Claw moving closer and closer…
Rui the Iron’s soul was in a mess. To make it worse, he felt fatal danger. Rui the Iron shouted out of instinct, “Don’t kill me. I surrender! I surrender!”
Ding of Barbarian God was the strongest means Rui the Iron could resort to. Now that it was cracked, he knew better than to do nothing which would turn him into a dead body right away.
Lu Li’s eyes were cold and he showed no emotion. His psychic power surged into Rui the Iron’s Soul Pond while he reached for Rui the Iron’s head with Blood Claw.
“Swish, swish!”
Horns on Rui the Iron’s head were glistening with thunderbolts. But…he wasn’t trying to attack Lu Li. Instead, the thunderbolts were directed into Rui the Iron’s head as he attempted to crush the knives of psychic power to protect his soul.
“Hmm!”
Lu Li circled around to the back of Rui the Iron and scratched his back with Blood Claw. How sharp Lu Li’s Blood Claw was! It pierced into Rui the Iron’s back and moved directly toward his heart. As soon as his heart was crushed, he would not be able to escape death.
“Ah!”
Rui the Iron yelled miserably. The other barbarians finally came to their senses. They were all frightened. Rui the Iron was the royal disciple of the Barbarian Race, their supreme prince. If Rui the Iron died, then the other barbarians didn’t stand a chance to live, either.
“Whoosh, whoosh!”
Many barbarians swarmed their way over. Their horns began to light up as they were ready to discharge thunderbolts. They might not be able to kill Lu Li, but they could at least stop him from slaying Rui the Iron.
“All of you, stop!”
Rui the Iron screamed. Admittedly, he was a smart guy. If these barbarians took actions, he would not have a chance to live. Before the thunderbolts even reached Lu Li, Rui the Iron’s heart would have been crushed.
At that critical moment, Rui the Iron saw that huge Ding of Barbarian God. He had an idea and yelled, “Human, don’t kill me. I will give the Ding of Barbarian God to you! I can repair that for you as long as you keep me alive. I can give you an intact Quasi Relic!”
“Eh?”
Lu Li’s Blood Claw had arrived at Rui the Iron’s heart. Lu Li could simply increase his strength by a tiny bit and crush that huge heart.
But he was intrigued by Rui the Iron’s words. That was a Quasi Relic. If he could get it, he would become so much more powerful in fights. He had seen personally the might of Ding of Barbarian God. Average Human Sovereign Realm warriors would be bombed to death when sucked in.
Lu Li’s eyes flickered and he kept his psychic power locked on Rui the Iron. If the latter dared to have anything up in his sleeve, Lu Li would crush his heart immediately.
After some consideration, Lu Li shouted, “Tell all the barbarians to move back for 30 miles, all of them!”
Rui the Iron was pleased to hear this. His choice of action had turned out to be correct. If he had attacked Lu Li with thunderbolts or hadn’t stopped the other barbarians from doing so, he would have been killed by now.
Rui the Iron shouted. The other barbarians hesitated only for a moment before they left until everyone was gone.
Rui the Iron had demonstrated his sincerity. He was developed both in his brawns and his brain and was also fearful of death. He didn’t mind his bleeding back and didn’t dare to make any move except for saying, “Okay, human, my guys are gone. I can give you the Quasi Relic and all I want is to stay alive.”
Lu Li threw a look to the round tripod Ding and the lid with a hole that Little White created. He asked with a frown, “That Quasi Relic is damaged. How can you repair it? Also…this Ding of Barbarian God is valued at your Barbarian Race. Are you really willing to give it to me?”
“Ha, ha!”
Rui the Iron forced a smile and said, “If you kill me, you will still have the Ding of Barbarian God. None of my guys will be able to kill you. Since it is destined that it will become yours, I might just as well trade my life with it. Quasi Relics like this, we have a couple more. I will only be punished for losing this one when I get back but I will not be sentenced to death. You humans have a saying, ‘better a living dog than a dead lion’. Living gives you hope, doesn’t it?”
Lu Li thought about it and found it reasonable. This barbarian with well-developed limbs was so sensitive. He was something.
Lu Li pondered about it and asked again, “How will you repair this Ding of Barbarian God? If you dare to lie to me for even a bit, you can go and reunite with your ancestors.”
Lu Li had kept his psychic power on Rui the Iron who knew very well that one wrong word or move from him would mean that he could really end up with the Barbarian God in the underworld.
Taking a deep breath, Rui the Iron said, “If it’s the body of Ding of Barbarian God that had been damaged, then nobody among my generation, not me and not even my father can repair it. But it’s just the lid. There are things I can do. I have brought along materials with me to do the repairs. It can be repaired after being refined in thunderbolts for a day.”
“I want to tell you!”
Rui the Iron went on after a pause, “I can repair the Ding of Barbarian God for you. However, I need you to take a Heaven Reverse blood oath. When I give you the repaired Ding of Barbarian God, you must not kill me. I promise you that from now on, I will never leave our base camp. When the time is up, we will go back to the Northern Land of Barbarians right away.”
Heaven Reverse blood oath was the gravest of all, especially for humans. People could not take such an oath randomly at any time. Violators of the oath would receive a penalty from the Emperor of Heaven Reverse and turn to ashes.
Killing Rui the Iron was not the priority. If Lu Li could get the Quasi Relic, it was okay to let Rui the Iron go. What Lu Li was afraid of was this being a trap set by Rui the Iron. After all, this particular barbarian was smarter and more sinister than average human beings.
Lu Li thought for a moment and said, “Remove your spiritual connection with the Ding of Barbarian God first. I will take over the control. You must be 30 miles away from here when you do the repairs and there can be no barbarian within a 30-mile radius. Plus…I will let Little White sneak into your body. If you are up to anything, Little White will crush your heart at once. If you agree to the terms, I will let you live.”
Rui the Iron struggled a moment before he said while biting his teeth, “Deal!”
